Ho prenotato un pò come ripiego perchè non trovavo voli economici per città che ritenevo più interessanti dover prendere giorni di ferie, ma una volta lì mi sono resa conto di aver fatto male a non esserci venuta prima perchè è davvero splendida e a mio avviso regge tranquillamente il paragone con capitali europee più gettonate come Parigi o Londra.
Trattandosi di un week end e di una città dove ancora non ero stata mi sono limitata a fare la turista classica: Grand Place, Manneken-pis, chiese varie ecc.
Mi ha molto colpito il museo di Magritte che, secondo me, vale davvero la pena visitare.
Noi abbiamo acquistato il biglietto combinato con il museo di arte, ma alla fine quello di Magritte era così interessante che abbiamo deciso di prendere l'audioguida e non abbiamo fatto in tempo a visitare anche l'altro. Siamo andati a chiedere alle guardie della sicurezza se il biglietto doveva necessariamente essere utilizzato in giornata in quanto speravamo di poter utilizzare la parte relativa al museo nazionale in una prossima visita, ma purtroppo non era possibile.
Tuttavia, bisogna dire che i custodi si sono prodigati in telefonate nei vari uffici e alla fine ci hanno promesso che ci avrebbero spedito due biglietti omaggio per l'ingresso al museo che non abbiamo potuto visitare con il biglietto combinato.
E' passato un mese ma alla fine ci sono arrivati!....Peccato solo che si siano sbagliati e anzichè mandarci i biglietti per il museo d'arte ci abbiano inviato di nuovo quello per Magritte!!! Pazienza...ad ogni modo non credevo che sarebbero arrivati davvero e comunque rivedere Magritte non mi dispiace affatto!
Un altro museo che ci è piaciuto molto è stata la Maisòn Cauchie. Si tratta della casa dell'architetto di art nouveau Paul Cauchie, visitabile solo la prima domenica del mese attraverso un tour guidato davvero esaustivo e interessante.
La casa si trova propio di fianco al Parc du Centenaire e già da fuori si capisce subito che si tratta di un edificio particolare.
Il centro di Bruxelles, nonostante sembri piuttoisto vasto dalle cartine, in realtà è costituito per lo più da viette piccole e quindi lo si può girare interamente a piedi senza prendere la metro. Consiglio un buon paio di scarpe da ginnastica.
La sera la movida vicino al palazzo della Borsa è davvero attiva fino a notte tarda e vale davvero la pena farci un salto.
Molto interessanti anche le fumetterie che sono piuttosto grandi e hanno veramente di tutto.
Peccato solo non aver avuto abbastanza tempo per visitare il museo del fumetto!
Riguardo all'hotel, abbiamo prenotato al Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre (Avenue du Boulevard 17). Si tratta di un 4 stelle a due passi dalla Gare du Nord dove ferma il treno che dall'aeroporto internazionale arriva in centro.
In effetti l'hotel è davvero in posizione centrale, a circa 15 minuti a piedi dalla grand place e come prezzi è abbastanza economico (noi abbiamo speso 105,00 Euro a camera per 2 notti), però per essere un 4 stelle le stanze sono davvero dei buchi.
La moquette era zozza, i materassi talmente molli che sembra di toccar terra come ci si siede (il nostro aveva la rete delle brandine sotto al posto delle doghe), minibar con 2 lattine di coca e nient'altro, nessuna cassetta di sicurezza, il phone che non appena si accendeva si surriscaldava immediatamente il manico e non era
possibile utilizzarlo. I corridoi poi sembrano quelli dell'hoitel del film "Shining": macchie di umidità e segno di quadri rimossi.
Infine, noi avevamo prenotato la camera e pagato un supplemento di 7 euro per la colazione. All'arrivo ci hanno detto che la colazione non era compresa e che dovevamo pagarle di nuovo.
Abbiamo protestato con l'ufficio prenotazioni il giorno dopo ma non c'è stato nulla da fare, nonostante avessimo in mano il foglio di prenotazione sul quale c'era scritto chiaramente che la colazione a buffet era compresa.
Personalmente non tornerò mai più in quell'hotel e non credo che meriti le 4 stelle...al massimo 3.
A parte questa piccola disavventura il resto del weekend è stato magnifico.
Per i ristoranti suggerisco quelli che propongono cucina belga e che hanno cuoco belga (ci raccontava un cameriere di un ristorante che nella maggior parte dei posti in centro i cuochi sono tutti immigranti e che spesso i piatti non hanno nulla a che fare con il Belgio.).
Noi ci siamo trovati molto bene in un posto in particolare: L'Eperon d'Or, Rue des EPeronnìers 8, tel 02-5139767
E' un ristorante molto bello, stile taverna esternamente, ma dentro piuttosto elegante. Noi siamo andati a pranzo e nonostante abbiamo scelto il menu fisso da 19,00 Euro
abbiamo mangiato davvero bene.
Infine, un ultimo suggerimento: costano un botto, ma una scatola di cioccolatini belgi merita sicuramente di essere portata a casa (o almeno di finire nella vostra pancia!).
Io sono letteralmente impazzita per i Truffles di Leonidas!
Beh...l'ultima cosa che rimane da non perdere direic he sono le famosissime birre belghe d'abbazia...
Week-end in Bruxelles
Recently I had the opportunity to spend a nice week end in Bruxelles and I have to admit I really appreciate and enjoyed it.
I decided to book the flight to Bruxelles just because I couldn't find any other cheap flight to a more charming destination I hadn't visited yet and where I had not to take any days off from work. But now I know it has been a mistake not visiting it before as it is an amazing city that can be compared to with other famouse capitals like London or Paris.
As it was just a week end and I had never been to Bruxelles before I just visited it as every tourist usually do: Grand Place, Manneken-pis, cathedrals, etc..
I really enjoyed visiting the Magrit museum, an artist I didn't know before but that struck me so much for its paintings and creativity that I decided to pay 4,00 euros more for the audioguide.
I bought a combi ticket for Magritte Museum and the national art gallery, but in the end, I spent so much time at Magritte's exibition that unfortunately there was no more time to visit the national art gallery.
I went at the security office to ask if the ticket for the art gallery could be used in a different day (already planning in my mind to come back soon) but unfortunately it was not.
Despite it, they kindly phoned different offices in the museum till they assured me they would have send me at home a free ticket for the museum I hadn't visit.
After one month we eventually got them!....Shame they made a mistake and sent us the magritte museum tickets instead of the one for the art gallery...anyway, I really appreciate they sent them really as I didn't really believe they would have tone and in any case I don't mind at all to visit Magritte museum again!
An other museum I really enjoyed has been the Maisòn Cauchie. It is the beautiful house of the Belgian art nouveau architect Paul Cauchie.
It is possible to visit it only the first Sunday of every month with a guided tour that fullfills completely the curiosity of everybody about this incredible artist, his life, family and "operas".
The building is just next to the Parc du Centenaire and from outside it is already possible to guess that it itself one of his creations.
Bruxelles city center, despite on the maps it seems quite big, is mainly made by little alleys and can be enterely visited by feet without having to take the public transport (I suggest a good pair of gym shoes).
Nightlife in the area close to the stock exchange building (La Bourse) is quite lively till late and definetely worth to pay a visit.
I also really appreciate the Comics' shops and regret I had not time enought to visit the Comics' museum.
I booked at Thon Hotel Brussels City Centre (Avenue du Boulevard 17), a supposed 4 stars hotel close to the Gare du Nord, the train station where the international airport train arrive in teh city center.
The hotel is really in a strategic position, at about 15 minutes walking to the Grand Place and at the same time it is not much expensive to be a 4 star hotel (we paid 105,00 € the room for 2 nights), but as usual in the end you get for what you pay (or in my case less) Indeed rooms are really tiny, the carpet so dirty I wouldn't be surprised to find coackroaches or other insects living on it, the matress so soft that when you sit on the beds it seems to touch the floor (our bed box springs was like the one of a folding bed), the minibar contained just 2 cans of coke, no security box and the hairdrier becomed extremely hot on the handle as soon as I turned it on to dry my hair and couldn't use it at all.
Furthermore the floor corridors looked like the ones from the movie "Shining": humidity spots and removed paintings signs everywhere.
As if it was not enought, when we booked the room whe paid also 7,00 Euros surcharge for the buffet breakfast using a promotion of 2 breakfast at the price of one.
But when we arrived at the hotel the staff at the reception said us that the breakfast hadn't been booked (despite I was showing them the internet email where it was clearly written that buffet breakfast was included) and that if we wanted it we had to pay it again.
Honestly, I wouldn't come back there again and personally think that more than a 4 stars hotel it is just a 3 stars one.
Except for the hotel the week end has been great.
About food I really appreciate belgian cusine (and it is an Italian that tells it!!).
A waiter of one of the restaurant where we had luch told us not to trust restaurants that serve international dishes and to look for the ones that just serve traditional belgian dishes and where the cook is Belgian (he said us that most of the restaurants in the downtons are runs by immigrants and that often the dishes they
propose as belgian ones have nothing to do with belgian cusine).
We really enjoyied the meal at "L'Eperon d'Or, Rue des EPeronnìers 8, tel 02-5139767"
It is a very nice restaurant that outside looks like an old inn, but inside it is quite elegant.
We went there for lunch and, despite we ordered the lunch menu (19,00 Euros), the usually is a bit crap, we really enjoied the meal.
One last suggestion: they are quite expensive but a belgian choclates box deserve to come back home with you (or at least to end in your belly!).
I litterally got crazy for Leonidas' truffles!
Oh, and of course you can't either loose to try all the different belgian beers...
